Water Of Life
This piece is rare and extremely unique. We believe that the Chinese market represents the largest growth area in opal sales.
The Chinese buyer is often supersticious and are influenced by dates, numbers, letters and 'characters'. This gem has the "Grass pattern" or "Chinese writing" pattern, however this gem actually has been given the name "Water of Life" as the the heart of the face of the gem appears to be a deep river full of vibrant life. It also contains the Chinese characters that describe the following words:
父 – Man/Father
八- 8
气 – Chi
This stone appears in 'A journey with colour' Volume 2 page 127 by len Cram. It has also been featured in several of Len crams booklets on Lightning ridge. It was mined in Granny flats in app 1999 and also has been displayed at the Lightning ridge show.
